With Title Hopes thinning out and a difficult quarter final against league leaders Real Burlington up next, Ansdell players are beginning to feel there will be no silverware this season.
Ansdell started the campaigne in high spirits after winning the St Annes cup in pre-season, but now it looks like internal personal accolades are all that these players can compete for.
With Adam Casson and Danny Garth a Goal apart for The Golden boot it looks to go right to the wire this season, Garth is a goal to the good as it stands and is scoring regularly, Casson however has only netted once in six games and needs his form to pick up if he is to stay in the hunt.
If transfer rumours are to be believed however, Garth might not even be at the club to pick up the award if he is still sat atop the scoring charts at the end of the season, leaving Casson far and away the leader to collect the award. Their next closest rival is Winger Paul Smith still in single figures but certainly has goals in him, we will watch this race with bated breath.
Goal of the season is another toughie, not to many spectacular efforts so far this season but a few quality finishes spring to mind.
Nicky Oldhams long range bottom corner stunner to give Ansdell the lead at Common Edge early in the season against J&S is worth a mention.
Adam Casson’s well placed top corner side foot at home against Lane Ends from the edge of the area is one to remember.
Danny Garth’s Audacious Lob From outside the box against Lane ends at home was a quality strike
Also his spectacular free kick in the same game which sailed into the top far corner will live long in the memory.
Also available to win is Player of the year, this could go to anyone of a number of players
Paul Wilks Is outstanding at the back
Keith Hulme is a sure fire bet at full back
James Wilkinson has the skill and muscle to command and has done
Danny Garth is a tireless attacking threat with great vision.
Paul Smith is fast and tricky with a great finish
Who Knows who will win what, but it will be fun to watch as the season draws to a close .
